The Bikeriders are back on track for a big screen debut, with Focus Features saying the film would be released on June 21, 2024.

This comes after the film was initially set up at 20th Century Studios and was scheduled to appear in 2023 but was removed. Focus Features then decided to produce the Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jodie Comer film, which had been scheduled for release in the summer.

What is the movie The Bikeriders about?

The Bikeriders represent a new kind of adaptation. Rather than adapting a novel, the film is based on Danny Lyon’s photography book, which includes interviews with members of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club.

Although the movie’s official plot is still unknown, it presents a made-up scenario about the formation of a Midwestern motorcycle gang. Nichols authored the script.

The motorcycle club at the center of The Bikeriders has an impressive membership, with several top-tier stars appearing in the film. Austin Butler, who just received an Oscar nod for Best Actor in Elvis, Jodie Comer, a Killing Eve star who has received wonderful reviews for The Last Duel, and Tom Hardy, a fan favourite from Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road, and an Oscar candidate for The Revenant, lead the cast.

But they’re not alone. Other notable actors in the cast include Boyd Holbrook (Justified: City Primaeval), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon), and Michael Shannon, who has collaborated with Jeff Nichols on several prior films, including Take Shelter, Midnight Special, and Loving.

According to IMDb, additional performers expected to feature in The Bikeriders include Mike Faise (West Side Story), Emory Cohen (Florida Man), and Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire).

Sheri Linden of the Hollywood Reporter says, “A striking memory piece.”

Peter Debruge, in Variety, said: “It goes a long way to humanise figures who’ve been long misrepresented on film while giving audiences privileged access to this inner world.”
