Although Jonathan Majors is now on the ascent, his professional career has been going strong for quite some time. His acting credentials predate even Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantum Mania, and Creed III. Even so, people may now meet him in these thrilling Hollywood films.
Majors portrays the film’s primary villain, Kang the Conqueror, in Quantumania. In Creed III, he plays the role of Adonis Creed’s former best friend turned adversary, Damian Anderson. Get to know Jonathan Majors from his previous works before seeing him in these feature films. It’s no coincidence that a lot of them have high approval scores on Rotten Tomatoes; this proves that Majors is already a superstar.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
The horror series Lovecraft Country on HBO lasted just one season before being axed. The program follows Tic (Majors) as he searches for his absent father around the United States in the ’50s. His uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) and longtime friend Leti (Jurnee Smollett) join him on this adventure. While on the road, the gang encounters both racial prejudice and genuine creatures. Horror aficionados will like this program since it pays homage to the genre while still being consistently shocking and terrifying. The atrocities of segregation and prejudice in that era are shown well in Lovecraft Country, making them as frightening as any monster from fiction.
There Will Be Blood (2021)
The cast of African-American actors Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Regina King, Delroy Lindo, and Lakeith Stanfield make up the majority of the cast of The Harder They Fall. It’s Western; therefore, there are plenty of gunfights, robberies, and payback. In The Harder They Fall, Majors takes center stage. His protagonist, Nat Love, is out for blood. This movie is perfect for him to take center stage. Even though the picture has a number of well-known and critically acclaimed actors, he manages to steal the show. You’ll be riveted by his adventures and eagerly anticipate the final clash with the villainous Rufus Buck (Elba).
Hostiles (2017)
Majors made his acting debut in the film Hostiles, costarring with Christian Bale. In Hostiles, Bale plays Army Captain Joseph Blocker, who is charged with traveling the nation with Chief Yellow Hawk (Wes Studi) and his family. Blocker is saddened by this assignment since Chief Yellow Hawk is his sworn enemy.
One of the troops in Blocker’s detail who is protecting the Cheyenne family is played by Jonathan Majors. His acting chops were on full display in this part, and while he’s gone on to play bigger leading roles, he held his own beside the reliable Christian Bale. Scott Cooper was the movie’s director.
Devotion (2022)
Filmmaker Tom Hudner and actor Jesse LeRoy Brown star in the biopic Devotion. In the 1940s and 1950s, both men served as naval aviators and officers in the United States Navy. Brown broke ground by being the first African-American pilot to graduate from the Navy’s flight school. Glen Powell portrays Hudner, while Majors plays Brown. Their relationship is the focus of the film’s first half. The film only touches on Brown’s life briefly, focusing mostly on his time as an ace pilot in the Korean War. Overall, Devotion is a film about lifelong friendships. It’s also a great primer on Jesse L. Brown’s life narrative. Both Majors and Powell provide excellent performances that rank among their greatest works. Despite the warmth of their connection, you can’t help but sense the weight of the choices each character has made.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
One of Spike Lee’s finest works is Da 5 Bloods. Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Chadwick Boseman feature in this film about four Vietnam War veterans who go to Vietnam in quest of a friend’s remains and hidden wealth. David, son of Paul (Lindo), who is traveling with the guys, is played by Major. The film has a stellar cast that expertly conveys a profound and heartbreaking subject. This movie really captivated me.
The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019)
Jimmie Falls hopes to one day buy the house his grandpa constructed. He and his closest buddy, Mont (Majors), spend much of their time together engaging in a wide variety of pursuits. The two guys live in their own optimistic bubble. When the time is right, Jimmie moves into the house that his grandpa formerly owned. Despite being firmly rooted in reality and all its horrors, this picture has a lyrical touch and a whimsical tone. The film tells a very personal story.
When We Rise (2017)
The ABC miniseries When We Rise covers the time period from the 1970s to the present day. It focuses on a group of people who fight for the rights of the LGBTQ community. The eight-part series premiered on ABC in 2017. Among the cast members are Guy Pearce, Mary-Louise Parker, Jonathan Majors, Michael K. Williams, and Dylan Arnold. The story is based on true events and people. It was Majors’ first significant TV role, and he appeared in many episodes as the young Ken Jones.
Captive State (2019)
After aliens attack Chicago, martial law is declared. A band of radicals resolves to alter the status quo once and for all by taking the battle to the alien invaders and showing the world that they can defeat them. In it, you may see John Goodman, Ashton Sanders, Vera Farmiga, Alan Ruck, and Jonathan Majors.
Rafe Drummond, the rebel movement’s public face, is portrayed by Majors. After seeing the monsters kill his parents, he makes it his goal in life to destroy them. In the process of compiling this list, I learned about a science fiction film with an unexpectedly intriguing premise. It’s not a great science fiction film, but it does include some interesting concepts. You should absolutely check it out.
White Boy Rick (2018)
To a White Boy The protagonist of Rick is a teenager who becomes entangled in criminal activity. He also serves as an informant for the FBI. Matthew McConaughey, Richie Merritt, Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Brian Tyree Henry are also included in the cast. Majors plays a secondary character, but as one of the top thugs, he is essential to the plot. Although he only appears briefly, he adds depth to Johnny’s character that would otherwise be missing.
Loki (2021-)
Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief, is a Disney+ Marvel series. After the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” the Time Variance Authority captures a Loki time-variant and holds him hostage until they determine what to do with him. Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Sophia Di Martino all feature in the show. Although Majors only makes a brief appearance in a number of episodes, this serves as his MCU debut. Since Majors and Loki will be pivotal in upcoming Marvel films, he is a smart place to begin.
