Michael Easton Bids Farewell to ‘General Hospital’ After 10 Years:

After ten years on General Hospital, Michael Easton is leaving the show.

The actor, 57, thanked the show’s cast and staff in an Instagram video clip on June 26, one day before his farewell episode aired.

“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” Easton added. “That is where you leave the party without notifying anybody you are leaving. But I felt you all deserved better, so I just wanted to let you know that I finished filming my last scenes here at General Hospital.”

“I’ve loved every minute I’ve been here,” he said. “I’d like to thank the cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage for the last ten years. Most importantly, I want to thank everyone for their generosity and affection toward me and my family. I will never forget you. And when I come out here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the happiest guy on the planet.”

After playing John McBain on One Life to Live, Easton moved on to General Hospital in 2012. Easton played a variety of roles in over 940 episodes of General Hospital, including Hamilton Finn.

Two famous characters are expected to return with Easton’s departure: Jonathan Jackson, who won five Daytime Emmys, will reprise his role as Lucky Spencer, while Bryan Craig will return as Morgan Corinthos for an August episode.

It was previously believed that Steve Burton’s character, Jason Morgan, had died while attempting to rescue his brother Drew (Cameron Mathison), however, he really returned to General Hospital earlier this year to reprise his role.

At the very end of ABC’s January primetime special General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars & Storytelling, the cast and crew revealed that Burton would be returning to the show.

At the beginning of February, the actor teased his impending return to the ABC soap opera set in a video that the Daily Drama uploaded to their YouTube account.
