The recently merged horror powerhouses Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will produce the new horror movie, which Lee Cronin, of “Evil Dead Rise,” will direct.
It has been speculated that Cronin will continue to work in his horror wheelhouse on the top-secret project, which he will both write and direct. Through his label Doppelgängers, the Irish director will also serve as producer for the production.
The upcoming horror movie, scheduled for an April 2026 release by New Line, a label of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, will feature Jason Blum and James Wan, head of Atomic Monster, as the studio’s initial collaborators.
“Lee’s work is always fresh and surprising and he has an intriguing, modern take on something quite ancient that I think audiences will love,” said Blum in a statement. This is a thrilling first for all of us: not only is this Atomic Monster our first collaborative production for Warner Bros., but it is also Blumhouse’s first time collaborating with Lee. We are eager to begin.
Cronin further says, “The cherry on top” is getting to work with his amazing collaborators at New Line Cinema again. I am bursting at the seams to unleash my secret, savagely entertaining, and horrifying project on the world of cinema, possibly as a new horror movie on Netflix.
Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are co-financing the film. Producing the film are Wan and Jason Blum. The show’s executive producers are Michael Clear and Judson Scott. Atomic Monster’s project manager is Alayna Glasthal.
Attorneys at Jackoway Austen, which may have the longest name in legal history, represent Cronin alongside CAA and MGMT Entertainment. Tyerman Wertheimer is a Cohen Mandelbaum Bernstein, Morris, Trattner, Auerbach Hynick was Sample, and Klein, Jaime LeVine.
New Line’s “Evil Dead Rise” made about $150 million worldwide, making it a smashing success. Among his other notable works is the 2019 horror hit “The Hole in the Ground,” hinting at his potential as a creator of upcoming horror movies on Netflix.
