Before her tragic death, Shannen Doherty had an epiphany about her time as a young actress and how gorgeous she had always been.
On Monday, July 29, the late Charmed alum spoke on the House of Halliwell podcast and stated that she had a revelation regarding her physical look while rewatching the classic early 2000s series.
“You know what’s really interesting about going and rewatching these as a woman is, I was like, ‘God, I was really pretty back then,'” she said with a grin. “We aren’t even wearing much makeup. Granted, we had excellent lighting and everything else, but I was quite slim.”
Doherty went on to say that she didn’t have “one wrinkle on my face,” and that although she “enjoyed” seeing her previous work, she admitted that it made her “a little sad” for the first time.
“Youth is wasted on the young.” “I, one hundred percent, now that I’m 50, whatever I am, if anyone wants to do the math,” she joked. “I believe it now. Now is the time for me to appreciate and enjoy my appearance and body. “I was so freaking skinny.”
The actress’s last words were: “It just took a little thing like cancer for me to lose some weight, but I’m still not as skinny as I was back then.”
Rose McGowan, her former costar, responded to Doherty’s postmortem presence on the screen in an Instagram sample from the podcast episode.
“Ahhh, it’s so unbelievable that she’s gone. “I keep thinking I will see her in two weeks,” she wrote. “It’s real, but not really. Even at this late stage, her lovely intellect was so acute that it seemed impossible.”
“I love seeing you all together. “Family forever Shannen always,” she said.
Charmed aired from 1998 to 2006 and followed the three Halliwell sisters: Prue (Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano). McGowan subsequently appeared as Paige Matthews, a long-lost half-sister, after Doherty’s departure.
Doherty died on July 13 at the age of 53, having battled cancer for years.
“It is with a sorrowful heart that I report the death of actress Shannen Doherty. “On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” Doherty’s longtime publicist Leslie Sloane announced in an exclusive statement on Sunday, July 14.
“The beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones, including her dog, Bowie. “The family requests privacy at this time so that they can grieve in peace,” Sloane said.
The Beverly Hills 90210 actress was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and she talked honestly in November 2023 about her Stage 4 breast cancer, which had spread to her bones, stating she didn’t “want to die.”
“I am not done living. I’m not done with love. I’m not finished with making it. “I’m not done hoping to change things for the better,” she said. “I’m just not — I’m not done.”
