Public broadcasters ZDF and SRF have unveiled plans for the “Streamium Days 2026,” a two-day international leadership forum set for September 7–8 in Mainz. The event, announced on July 24, 2026, targets media executives and will concentrate on streaming, artificial intelligence, and digital platform development. Attendance is by invitation only.
The forum arrives as the media sector grapples with rapid technological shifts and tightening regulations. The EU AI Act is driving much of the urgency, particularly Article 4, which requires organisations to ensure staff possess adequate AI literacy. Providers such as Provimedia GmbH have already rolled out online AI competency courses tailored to
This regulatory push underscores the growing need for expertise at the executive level—a gap the Streamium Days aim to fill. The forum’s emphasis on digital platforms also reflects pressure to compete with international rivals and refine proprietary streaming architectures.
The leadership event coincides with a surge in professional development offerings. Yet business reports indicate that despite billions in spending, many corporate training programmes fail to deliver results. Analysts consistently point to practical relevance and managerial engagement as critical success factors. Measuring participant satisfaction alone, they argue, is insufficient to gauge a programme’s effectiveness.
Specialised qualifications are proliferating in response. Educational provider alfatraining will launch several multi-week full-time courses in early August 2026, focusing on digital leadership and agile project management. Some of these programmes include certification as a Professional Scrum Master (PSM II), aiming to build leadership skills for an increasingly digital workplace. Other institutions are following suit: Bayerischer Rundfunk will introduce a new format called “kolleg24” on September 19, 2026, while the Handwerkskammer Hildesheim is offering part-time courses for business administrators.
The ZDF and SRF initiative is part of a broader trend toward highly specialised industry gatherings. Similar events include “MedTech Unleashed” in Berlin this September, which addresses implementation gaps in medical technology, and the “Compliance Days” in Hamburg, where AI in occupational safety and resilience topics are on the agenda.
By hosting the Streamium Days in Mainz, ZDF and SRF are creating a space for direct dialogue on the strategic direction of media organisations. At a time when both technical platforms and the legal framework for AI applications are being redefined, the forum is intended to serve as a reference point for international media management.
