Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Umbrella Academy, a superhero web TV series has won our hearts. Recently, Netflix dropped its second season, and still, we can’t get enough of it. What we are waiting for is to see The Umbrella Academy VS The Sparrow Academy.
Trying their best to stop Apocalypse, The Umbrella Academy ended bringing doomsday. When they failed to stop the end of the world in 2019, the siblings traveled back in time to save themselves but get scattered in different timelines.
Back in time, the siblings unaware of the upcoming threat, started new lives whereas Five was the only one who knew what’s coming: Doomsday. However, when siblings succeeded in stopping doomsday from happening in 1963, they ended up changing their fates: they screwed up the timeline. When they traveled back to the future in 2019, they found out that Hargreeves never adopted them, instead, he adopted The Sparrow Academy one of which is none other than Ben.
Confused? Okay, then let’s dig deep to know what exactly happened in 1963 which causes the aberration namely known as “The Sparrow Academy”.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2
In the second season of Umbrella Academy, we witnessed that when the dysfunctional superhero siblings failed to avert the apocalypse, they traveled back in time but only to end up scattered in different years in the 1960s Dallas. unbeknownst of each other’s whereabouts.
Apocalypse VS Doomsday
Five arrived on 25 November 1963 only to witness exactly the same moment when the world died including his siblings in Nuclear war. Only a moment before the world ended, an old-aged Hazel reached and help Five escape. He told Five that this is doomsday, they have brought it back with them. He brought Five ten days earlier than the doomsday. So, having only ten days to stop this new apocalypse, Five heads on to find his siblings.
What Hargreeves Siblings Did Back in 1963?
Five with the help of a man named Elliot tried to find his siblings. He found out the whereabouts of Diego who’s in a mental asylum as he tried to warn people about the president’s future murder. However, Five left him there. On the other hand, Five met Luther who’s now a bodyguard to a man named Jack Ruby but he refused to help Five. Unbeknownst to everyone, Allison is married to a civil rights activist man named Ray, Klaus with the help of Ben’s ghost started a cult, and Vanya who has no memory of her past is living with a married couple and is a babysitter of their son.
What Happened When The Hargreeves Siblings Met Their Father in 1963?
Five tried to gather his siblings to warn them about the upcoming apocalypse but none of them seems interested until they saw their father back in 1963, and found out about his link to the president’s future assassination.
In an attempt to meet reach his father, Diego ended up meeting his Robo mom’s real incarnation. The moment the siblings met their father was the very same moment when they screwed up the timeline. Mr. Hargreeves refused to believe them that they are his future adoptive children as he found them good for nothing. However, this isn’t the complete story as a lot more happened when the Hargreeves children were back in time.
What Role Handler Played in The Umbrella Academy Season 2?
How can we forget Handler as she was the one who played the biggest role in all the mess in both timelines!
The Handler’s adoptive daughter Lila befriended Diego and uses him to work as per her mom’s sayings. However, unbeknownst to everyone, she was one of the 43 children who were miraculously and mysteriously born in 1989. It means that Lila is one of The Umbrella Academy superheroes. Anyhow, poisoned by the Handler against the Five, Lila headed up to kill the siblings.
However, amidst all this, the Handler lured Five and had him killed the Commission’s board. After Five succeed in killing the board members, The Handler gave Five a time briefcase with a countdown of 90 minutes. Putting Five’s all attempts in vain, the siblings didn’t regroup in time which leaves them with the only choice to face the doomsday.
What Happened at the end of The Umbrella Academy Season 2?
Diego succeded in finding out the reason behind the new apocalypse: he saw Vanya triggering the Russian, and American governments to start a Nuclear war. However, again this time, it wasn’t entirely Vanya’s fault. The American policemen tortured her as they thought she was a Russian spy. The police torture triggered her suppressed memories, and on remembering what she did back in the future she lost control over her powers. However, ben’s soul reached Vanya, and help her control her powers but meanwhile, his soul departs from the world.
By the end of The Umbrella Academy Season 2, we witnessed that when Vanya tried to save Harlan’s life she mistakenly transferred a part of her powers in him. Having lost control of his powers, Harlan ended up killing his own father, and this was exactly what the beginning of another apocalypse. Vanya and the siblings reached their own time to stop Harlan from hurting anyone else. However, Handler along with an army of assassins, and Lila as her prime assassin (as she can copy and use everyone’s superpowers) arrived there to finish the Umbrella Academy once and for all.
Contrary to what anyone could have expected, Handler was killed, and Lila escaped. Vanya succeeded in calming Harlan down but unbeknownst to her, he still has her powers. After stopping the Handler, and Hargreeves siblings traveled back to the future only to find out that Mr. Hargreeves adopted The Sparrow Academy instead of the Umbrella Academy but Ben is one of the new Hargreeves children.
It seems like that Ben would be the new arrogant Hargreeves kid, and The Umbrella Academy VS The Sparrow Academy is what we will witness in the third season.
