Sonoro Gold Secures Major Funding for Expanded Exploration Drive

Sonoro Gold Corp. has successfully closed a substantial private placement, raising C$11 million to aggressively advance its flagship Cerro Caliche project in Mexico. The capital injection is earmarked for an extensive, multi-phase drilling campaign designed to significantly expand the project’s resource base.

Management Demonstrates Confidence with Substantial Investment

The financing, which was fully subscribed, involved the issuance of over 45 million units at a price of C$0.24 each. A notable aspect of this raise is the strong participation from company insiders. Members of the leadership team subscribed for shares worth approximately C$3.8 million, signaling a firm belief in the project’s potential and economic viability.

Proceeds will be directed toward a two-phase drilling program totaling 50,000 meters. This ambitious operational push will run concurrently with the ongoing permitting process for future mine construction. The dual objectives are to infill known mineralized zones and to test new potential extensions to the north and south of the existing property.

Project Economics Underpin Ambitious Plans

The company’s strategy is supported by robust preliminary economic assessments. An updated technical report (PEA) for Cerro Caliche, released in late February, outlined a post-tax net present value of US$224 million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 50%.

Market sentiment responded favorably to the news of the secured financing. The company’s shares traded higher on the day, advancing by 7.5 percent to €0.15. This move provides some distance from the equity’s 52-week low of €0.07.

Path Forward Toward Development

The private placement is expected to close on or about April 30, 2026. In parallel, the company awaits a pivotal decision from Mexican regulatory authorities regarding its environmental impact assessment. A positive outcome is the necessary precursor to transitioning from exploration into the formal construction phase of a planned open-pit operation.
