“It’s like a hole opened up in the world… leading straight to the center of nothingness.” From the mind of Executive Producer Ryan Murphy, known for American Horror Story, comes the chilling new FX horror series Grotesquerie. This morning, FX unveiled the first official teaser trailer, giving fans a glimpse into the dark world Murphy has crafted.
Grotesquerie is set to premiere on September 25 on FX, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu. You can watch the haunting teaser trailer below.
The series features an impressive cast, led by Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer), Courtney B. Vance (Lovecraft Country), and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread). Also starring in the series are Micaela Diamond, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Raven Goodwin, and NFL star Travis Kelce.
In this 10-episode drama, Murphy weaves a tale of terror as a series of brutal crimes shakes a small community to its core. Detective Lois Tryon, portrayed by Nash-Betts, feels an unsettling connection to these crimes as if someone—or something—is targeting her personally. At home, Lois struggles with a distant relationship with her daughter, a husband who is long-term hospitalized, and her own internal battles.
With no leads in sight, Lois reluctantly partners with Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, who has witnessed humanity at its worst, still holds onto a belief in its goodness, while Lois fears that the world is being consumed by evil. As they delve deeper into the mystery, the two women find themselves entangled in a sinister web that only raises more questions than it answers.
Grotesquerie is written and created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, with direction from Max Winkler, Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Elegance Bratton. The series is executive produced by Murphy, Woodall, Baitz, Baken, Winkler, Nash-Betts, Vance, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson, and is produced by 20th Television.
