Night Swim horror movie: release date, cast, trailer, all you need to know

Based on a short film of the same name that Bryce McGuire and Rod Blackhurst made in 2014, Night Swim is an upcoming horror movie that McGuire will write and direct. A family experiences a haunting in their backyard pool in this film starring Wyatt Russell, Kerry Condon, Amélie Hoeferle, and Gavin Warren.

The Night Swim horror movie, which is based on the same-titled short film from 2014, gathers all these ideas (and terrifying “fun facts”) on the vulnerability of people in water, even in a chlorinated pool.

Former baseball star Ray Waller and his family (wife and two kids) relocate when he is forced to retire early due to a degenerative condition. He built the pool in the backyard in the hopes that the kids would like it and that it would also serve as a kind of physical therapy for him. But a sinister secret from the house’s history quickly releases a wicked power that plunges the family into an unending nightmare.

The feature-length adaptation has Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions producers Jason Blum and horror legend James Wan working together. Not long after that, Universal Pictures got the rights to distribute the film.

Is There a Trailer for Night Swim?

In the first official trailer for Night Swim, Universal Pictures dropped the bomb on October 5. Kerry Condon and Wyatt Russell, who play a married couple, are seen in the teaser as new homeowners. They get the pool back in working order, and then their daughter and her buddy play Marco Polo during a night swim.

On November 29th, Universal released Night Swim’s second trailer. Featuring Billie Eillish’s “What Do You Want From Me?” the 2.5-minute teaser provides a more comprehensive overview of the film’s premise and the impact of the haunted pool on the main family.

When is the Night Swim horror movie coming out?

After the success of M3GAN, rumors started circulating in January 2023 that development on The Night Swim had begun. McGuire was back at the helm, directing from his script. He had broadened the narrative to give the tale more drama and more emotional depth to the characters’ horror. It required incorporating “an epic, supernatural mythology with a gothic fairytale undercurrent for the story’s sinister swimming pool.”.

Wyatt Russell and Kerry Condon’s casting, along with the production’s direction by Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions and James Wan of Atomic Monster, respectively, served as the announcement. Additional cast members were added in April, including Amélie Hoeferle, Gavin Warren, Nancy Lenehan, and Jodi Long. Universal Pictures has set the release date of Night Swim for January 5, 2024, in the US.
