The US spot cryptocurrency ETF sector halted a draining three-day streak of outflows last Friday, recording a net influx of approximately $88 million. This shift suggests a tentative recalibration by major institutional players, even as broader market uncertainty persists.
A Strategic Pivot Amid Sustained Pressure
This recent capital inflow presents a stark reversal from the preceding days, during which investors withdrew over $400 million from these funds. The movement occurred against a backdrop of significant longer-term redemptions, with roughly $3.8 billion leaving US spot products over the past five weeks. Market analysts largely attribute the preceding sell-off to stringent institutional risk management and ongoing macroeconomic headwinds.
Leading the recovery, products from BlackRock and Fidelity attracted substantial investments of $64.5 million and $23.6 million, respectively. Demonstrating isolated strength earlier in the week, Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust also bucked the wider trend by securing an inflow of around $36 million.

Major Holders Accumulate as Discounts Widen
Notably, large-scale investors appear to be executing a distinct strategy. Since December 2025, major wallet addresses have increased their holdings by 236,000 units of the underlying cryptocurrency. This accumulation has taken place even as the share price for Grayscale’s flagship product has faced considerable pressure. Closing at $52.81 on Friday, the trust’s shares reflect a decline of about 24.7% since the start of the year.
With total assets under management now standing at $85.31 billion, the US spot ETF sector controls an estimated 6.3% of Bitcoin’s total market capitalization. Grayscale continues to maintain its position with its primary trust, despite the competitive strain from lower-cost alternatives, which maintain a fee of 1.50%. The latest inflows, however, signal a potential initial stabilization following the extended five-week correction phase.
The critical question for observers is whether this short-term positive impulse can translate into a sustained restoration of institutional confidence.
