‘Gran Turismo’ Casts’ Never Have I Ever’ has cast in the role of the antagonist in “Gran Turismo” In the upcoming film adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game franchise, Barnet will appear with David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Archie Madekwe.
The Gran Turismo adaptation that Neill Blomkamp is working on is gearing up for its release the following year, and now the breakthrough star of Never Have I Ever, Darren Barnet, is getting in the race. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, he has joined the cast of the picture that will be helmed by David Harbour and produced by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. Other cast members include Orlando Bloom and Archie Madekwe. This coming week will see the start of production in Hungary.
Since its introduction on the first-generation PlayStation in 1997, the Gran Turismo video game franchise has been consistently expanding with the release of new installments, making it one of the most successful video game franchises ever. The story of a young player whose prowess at the game earned him a string of victories at Nissan-sponsored competitions is likewise based on real events and is adapted for the screen in the film.
After achieving so much success at the Gran Turismo Academy, he decided to pursue a career as a real-life professional racer and fulfill the dream of every Gran Turismo fan across the world. At the GT Academy tournament, Madekwe will face off against Barnet, who will play the role of his adversary. His character is the best racer in the school, and he is annoyed by the rapid advancement of the younger driver.
Blomkamp, who is known to be an avid fan of the Gran Turismo video game series, will direct the film from a screenplay that was written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. In addition to Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti, PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan are also producers. Alongside Hall, the creator of the series, Kazunori Yamauchi, will serve as an executive producer for this project.
Since his performance as Paxton Hall-Yoshida, the problematic love interest of series star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s Devi, in the blockbuster Netflix comedy series Never Have I Ever, which was co-created by Mindy Kaling, Barnet’s career has been on the rise. Never Have I Ever is produced by Mindy Kaling. Due to the complicated love triangle that he is in with Devi and Ben, he has been one of the series’ most important characters ever since the show’s beginning (Jarren Lewison). He will continue to appear in episodes of the next fourth and final season of the show; however, there is currently no information regarding when that season will become available on the streaming service.
Prior to playing that pivotal role, his acting experience consisted primarily of supporting roles in television and cinema shorts. It wasn’t until 2018 that he landed his first recurring role in a television series, and it wasn’t until the latter half of the same year that he appeared in his first feature picture, which was Craig Goldstein’s Installer. He also made a cameo appearance in an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but he is most known for his roles in the romantic comedy Love Hard and the animated series Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, both of which are available on Netflix.
