Demi Moore is a proud mother to three daughters: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah Willis. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the actress revealed her approach to parenting advice, especially concerning Rumer, who has a 17-month-old daughter named Louetta. When host Jennifer Hudson inquired if Moore offers any wisdom based on her own experiences, she emphasized that she believes it’s best to remain silent unless asked.
“What I’ve learned is that you should only give advice if you’re asked, in general,” Moore explained.
She went on to praise Rumer as an incredible mom and expressed her willingness to share her own experiences, but only if Rumer seeks her guidance.
“First of all, she is a wonderful mother, and I am so proud of her,” Moore said. “She truly is incredible. If I’m asked, I’m more than happy to share my experience, strength, and hope. But if I’m not, I believe it’s better to just keep my mouth shut.”
“It’s a learning experience,” she added, noting that she wants Rumer to navigate motherhood in a way that feels right for her. However, she playfully mentioned that sometimes she does have a clearer perspective.
“As a parent, I believe you have to give your children the dignity of their own process,” Moore explained. “Sometimes they need to find their own way. Even if I’m right—and I often am—it doesn’t mean she’s wrong.”
Moore concluded by emphasizing that, as a parent, she believes the most important role isn’t to “rescue” her children but to allow them the space to grow, even if it means making mistakes along the way.
“For me, my job is to love my children and give them the room to be who they are,” she said. “While our instinct may be to rescue them, that isn’t always the best approach. It’s essential to provide them with the freedom to navigate their own journeys.”
