Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc looks fresh in the third Knives Out film!
On Monday, June 10, writer and director Rian Johnson posted a first-look shot of Craig’s role in the forthcoming series film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Johnson captioned a black-and-white photo of Detective Blanc with longer hair and dressed in a suit, “And we’re off!” Today is the first day of filming for Benoit Blanc’s upcoming mystery, ‘Wake Up Dead Man’; meet you on the other side.”
The forthcoming sequel, which was initially revealed in March 2021, comes after the 2019 film Knives Out and the 2022 film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The eagerly anticipated third movie will feature many new cast members, according to Netflix, which reportedly paid $400 million for the rights to the two sequels in March 2021.
The cast will include Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, and Cailee Spaeny.
On May 24, 2024, Johnson announced the title of the third film with a teaser trailer released on X. A narrator said that the forthcoming film will be Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.”
Although the premise of Knives Out 3 has yet to be revealed, some fans think the second film contains an Easter egg concerning the future.
In one of the film’s early scenes, when everyone is startled to find Detective Blanc on the dock, Claire Debella says, “Did you solve the murder of—oh—whatshername—the ballet dancer thing, that’s you?”
Fans speculate that the third film might be a precursor to one of Blanc’s previous cases.
Craig told Deadline in November 2022 that it would be made if people were interested in a fourth Knives Out film. But if Rian or I ever felt like we were simply cranking them out, I believe we would step away. I mean, I don’t believe any of us want to do that in life. Unless people are having real enjoyment with them, forget it.”
Knives Out 3 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
