Reunion fans, get ready for Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr.! On Wednesday, July 24, Cook, 44, and Prinze Jr., 48, who portrayed improbable onscreen love partners Laney Boggs and Zack Siler in the famous 1999 film, photographed together at the Los Angeles premiere of his new thriller The Girl in the Pool.
Prinze Jr. smiled as he stood next to Cook at the event, which took place in the ALO HQ Screening Room. Both stars dressed casually for the occasion.
Prinze Jr. dressed in a black jacket, black cargo trousers, and a pink T-shirt, while Cook chose an off-the-shoulder white sweater, blue jeans, and brown stiletto boots.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, 47, who has been married to Prinze Jr. for over 22 years, posed for photographs with the stars from She’s All That. Gellar wore a white lace minidress with a black bow.
Prinze Jr. and Cook reunited for their most recent project when Prinze Jr. attended the premiere of his romantic comedy Christmas with You (2022) on Netflix, which marked his comeback to the genre after a ten-year absence.
Cook has a starring role in He’s All That, a gender-flipped remake of the beloved rom-com from the ’90s that premiered on Netflix in 2021. Instead of resuming her role as Laney, she portrayed Anna Sawyer, the mother of Padgett Sawyer (Addison Rae), who was influenced by Prinze Jr.’s cool-guy character Zack.
Cook said that she and Prinze Jr. discussed a possible role, even though he did not participate in the remake.
The Love, Guaranteed actress said in May 2021, “We both discussed if he was going to do this one or not.”
“It ended up not being a good fit for him, but he and the creative team are behind it are totally cool,” according to her. “I think his part was a little bit up in the air.”
“He responded, ‘It’s not going to work for me, but I fully support you doing anything you want with this… “Go for it — I’ll be behind this film and everyone involved,” Cook added.
The actress spoke about the impact She’s All That has had on her career. “It would be easy to say that it did everything for me.”
“It opened so many doors, and I’m still really grateful to that movie for it — and, dare I say, I think it held up pretty well,” she told me.
