Brad Pitt was in England filming his next racing film during the Fourth of July.
The 60-year-old actor continued shooting his next feature, F1, on July 4 at the Silverstone Circuit in Northampton, England, where he was also spotted attending the first day of the British Grand Prix.
On the first day of the event, which precedes the race on Sunday, July 7, the Oscar winner was seen donning a racing costume and sporting sunglasses.
Pitt earlier arrived at the 2023 British Grand Prix, with costar Damson Idris, to shoot sequences for the film in July. Pitt and Javier Bardem, who also stars in the film, were seen hanging out on location in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, in January.
According to a press statement, the production has extensively documented races during the F1 season and is working “in collaboration with Formula 1 and the F1 community, including the 10 F1 teams and their drivers, the FIA, and race promoters.” Lewis Hamilton, one of the sport’s most popular drivers, is also involved in the film as a producer.
Pitt plays “a former driver who returns to Formula 1 alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid,” as stated in the film’s synopsis. “The feature is being shot during actual Grand Prix weekends as the team competes against the titans of the sport.”
Pitt informed Sky Sports F1 host Martin Brundle on his July 2023 visit that his character is returned to F1 “as kind of a Hail Mary, and hijinks ensure.” This provided further context for the plot of the film.
Impressive footage will roll out from every angle of the car, revealing speeds and G forces you’ve never seen before. “It’s incredibly exciting,” he stated at the time.
At the premiere of Young Woman and the Sea in May, the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, said that Pitt “trained for four or five months” to compete behind the wheel. “He’s an amazing driver,” Bruckheimer, 80, said. “In fact, several F1 drivers claim he’s a natural athlete. He really is. He looks wonderful in that automobile.”
Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo all feature in the next film, which will be released in cinemas on June 27, 2025. Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) directed the picture.
