Are you thinking about revamping your bedroom? Tired of looking at the same old walls every night? Or perhaps you’ve just moved into a new home, and you want to put your own stamp on things. Whatever your situation, it’s not always easy to decide how to decorate your space. Color themes, furnishings, accessories, lighting – there’s an awful lot to consider, with so many choices to be made.
But have you considered using your Zodiac element to guide your design inspiration? Astrologer, crystal healer and moon mentor Bex Milford told fitted furniture experts Hammonds how the stars can affect our tastes.
“Our star sign indicates which constellation the sun was positioned in when we were born,” she said. “In our birth charts…the sun represents our sense of ‘self’, our ego, and the person we most identify with. It’s therefore natural that our tastes and preferences are influenced by our star sign!
“Throughout our lives, we are constantly ‘growing into’ our star sign as we assert our individuality. Taking our star sign into account when we decorate rooms is just another way to connect with this authentic version of ourselves, allowing us to feel most confident and comfortable in the room we’ve created!”
So, do you fall under the Earth, Air, Water or Fire sign? And what sort of effect might that have on the look and feel of your new bedroom?
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
If you fall into this category, it’s likely that you’ll have a practical outlook on life. You like to be organised – almost to the point of perfection – so clutter is a big no-no. With that in mind, you can make the most of your space with neat and organised shelving for all your clothing and belongings, tidily housed behind wardrobe doors.
Air signs (Libra, Aquarius, Gemini)
Your life is all about balance – especially if you’re a Libra, you want a peaceful, harmonious space where you can unwind at the end of the day and if it’s symmetrical then all the better. That’s not to say there can’t be bright and playful colors, however, and statement pieces like a classy bedside lamp can prove a standout feature.
Water signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)
Those under the Water sign may gravitate towards varying shades of blue, white, green, and aqua. Meanwhile, Scorpios tend to be bold, daring, and sensual beings, so don’t be afraid to tap into that by using splashes of black and red to offset the rest of your scheme. Soft-glow lighting would be the perfect fit and there is plenty of boho bedroom inspiration for you to draw upon.
Fire signs (Aries, Sagittarius, Leo)
If you’re a Sagittarius, you might want to pay homage to some of the exotic destinations you’ve traveled to, while Leos tend to revel in luxury so perhaps a sprinkling of gold would be appropriate. As one of the Fire signs, it makes sense that Aries enjoy reds, oranges, and yellows, so you could incorporate those into your scheme.
