Bachelorette Jenn Tran Urges Sam M. to ‘Better Understand My Emotions’ During 1-on-1 Date (Exclusive)

As Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette began, Sam M. received the rose for first impressions, but his first one-on-one with Jenn may have damaged that image.

The 26-year-old Jenn and the 27-year-old Sam M. are in New Zealand enjoying the sights of Auckland from the Auckland SkyJump & SkyWalk in this exclusive sneak peek from the July 29 episode of The Bachelorette. When an employee tells Jenn and Sam M. that they can either stroll around the building or jump off, the physician assistant student says, “A walk sounds lovely.”

Jenn didn’t believe Sam M. realized how uncomfortable she felt.

“I am obviously terrified, and Sam is not reading my emotions at all,” she tells the cameras. “I feel like I’m up here all by myself.”

On the July 22 episode of The Bachelorette, Sam M. argued with Devin at the conclusion of the group date.

“You say mutual respect, but you don’t believe that,” Devin, 28, said Sam M.

Sam M. had no desire to interact with Devin. “I don’t respect you,” he told the freight business owner. “I’ve got nothing to say to you. “We will not be friends.”

They battled again after Aaron left, and Jenn was ominously informed that some of her remaining suitors would not be ready for an engagement by the conclusion of the program.

“I don’t respect you, I don’t like you, and I want nothing to do with this,” Sam M. said to Devin.

During the episode, Sam N. surprised Jenn and the men by stating during the group date that he was in love with her. Thomas N., 31, described Sam N.’s announcement as “intense” and “premature,” while Sam said that it “caught everybody off guard.”

“These are some big, big statements to be making so early on,” Jenn stated during an on-camera interview. “It does feel very early, but it also feels kind of good because at the end of the day, I am here for love and to find my person.”

Before her season started, Jenn said that she did not want to be embroiled in the men’s turmoil.

“My approach to navigating drama was to let the boys fight it out themselves,” the reality star said. “I believe that allowing someone to figure things out for themselves and seeing how they make choices and handle problems allows you to understand a lot more about them. So, as the drama began, I sat back and made mental notes. I’m not their parent, and I’m not there to teach them anything.”

Finally, Jenn intimated that she was “very happy” with how her season concluded.

“I’m very happy with the way everything panned out,” she told me. “Every day that I was there, I learned a lot about myself and what I desired in a relationship. “There was so much growth.”

Watch The Bachelorette on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
