Exploration company Apex Critical Metals has reported a significant geological discovery at its Lac Le Moyne property in Quebec, Canada. The find involves a mineralized carbonatite system exhibiting elevated concentrations of niobium and rare earth elements. With only approximately 600 such carbonatite systems known to exist globally, the company’s CEO, Sean Charland, has characterized the discovery as a rare occurrence.
Expanding the Portfolio and Funding
Apex Critical Metals’ activities extend beyond the Quebec discovery. The company holds three North American projects. Its flagship venture, the Rift Project in Nebraska, is known for historical drill intercepts including 155.5 meters grading 2.70% total rare earth oxides (REO). At the Cap Project in British Columbia, a 2025 drill program confirmed a niobium discovery with an interval of 36 meters assaying 0.59% Nb₂O₅.
To fund its operations, the company successfully closed a private placement raising $10 million in late October 2025. Subsequently, in early December, it completed the re-logging and re-sampling of historical drill core from the Rift Project.
Details of the Lac Le Moyne Discovery
The initial discovery at Lac Le Moyne resulted from a July 2025 sampling program, which represented the first targeted carbonatite exploration on the property. The campaign collected 151 rock samples, delivering results that surpassed expectations:

- Four bulk samples returned grades exceeding 0.20% Nb₂O₅, with a peak value of 0.40% Nb₂O₅.
- Thirteen samples contained over 0.25% total rare earth oxides (REO), reaching a maximum of 0.50% REO.
- Following the results, the company staked an additional 77 claims, expanding its land position by roughly 3,609 hectares.
The highest niobium and REO values outline a north-south trending corridor within the northeastern section of the property. A notable aspect of the find is that the areas of high-grade mineralization do not align with historically mapped carbonatite outcrops, suggesting the presence of a separate, previously unidentified mineralized system.
Forward-Looking Plans
With the 2025 field season concluded, Apex Critical Metals is now compiling and interpreting the full analytical dataset. The newly expanded land package at Lac Le Moyne covers the most prospective target corridor, setting the stage for potential follow-up exploration during the 2026 field season.
Concurrently, work continues at the Rift Project. Findings from the recent core review are anticipated in the first quarter of 2026. The company plans to commence a new drilling campaign there shortly after, pending the finalization of permitting procedures early in the year.
