BrainChip Activists Target Three Board Seats as Sequora IP Goes Live for Licensing

Two BrainChip shareholders are weighing a push to convene a general meeting, where they would seek the removal of three non-executive directors and the election of two candidates of their own choosing. Steve Liebeskind and Neil Rinaldi floated the move in comments to media outlets, with the pair stressing that no final decision on how to proceed had been reached — by their own account, the initiative remained at the consideration stage rather than a formal requisition.

The campaign, operating under the banner Renew BRN, also released a video titled “The Index Story,” examining BrainChip’s removal from the S&P/ASX 200 and the S&P/ASX 300. The clip surfaced alongside the activists’ public statements. BrainChip, for its part, lodged two disclosures under ASX Listing Rule 3.17.1, attaching shareholder correspondence that included letters from both the board and the investor group pushing for a board refresh.

Sequora Core Ready to License

On the product front, BrainChip confirmed that development of its Sequora processor IP core is complete, making it immediately available for licensing as of 14 October. The architecture is designed to run generative artificial intelligence — including large language models scaling to as many as 3 billion parameters — directly on battery-powered devices at the network edge. The company is pitching the core squarely at on-device generative AI workloads.

Eight days later, on 22 October, BrainChip took the stage at Semiconductor Australia 2026 in Sydney, where CEO Sean Hehir presented following the Sequora announcement. The stock shed 2.3% in the prior session.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying BrainChip?

AKD1500 SPI Extends Akida Lineup

BrainChip also used 22 October to unveil the AKD1500 SPI coprocessor, a part that connects to existing microcontrollers and supports on-chip learning. The addition widens the Akida chip family into microcontroller-based applications, with the company pointing to wearables, connected home appliances and sensors as target use cases. The coprocessor is available immediately through BrainChip, DigiKey and the company’s own sales team.

The product and licensing news lands against a backdrop of shareholder agitation over board composition, with the Renew BRN effort and the index-exit critique keeping governance questions in view even as management rolls out new silicon and IP.
