Drilling Commences at Apex Critical Metals’ Nebraska Rare Earth Project

The Canadian explorer Apex Critical Metals has mobilized its initial drill rig to the Rift rare earth element (REE) project in Nebraska, marking the start of its first major campaign. This inaugural drilling program targets the Elk Creek Carbonatite Complex, considered one of North America’s most prospective carbonate-hosted systems, with additional rigs planned to follow.

A Detailed Exploration Plan Takes Shape

Apex’s Phase I program is designed for approximately 8,000 meters of core drilling across 10 to 15 individual holes. Each borehole is planned to reach depths of 600 to 900 meters, testing a north-south strike length of 850 meters within a high-priority southeastern zone of the property.

The company’s strategy is built upon a comprehensive modern 3D model that integrates historical drill data with recent geophysical and geochemical surveys. A primary objective is to verify and potentially expand upon historical results from work conducted by Molycorp (1973-1986) and Quantum Rare Earth Developments (2010-2011). Past intercepts included notable intervals such as 155.5 meters grading 2.70% total rare earth oxides (REO) and 68.2 meters at 3.32% REO.

Key Program Details:
* Scope: 8,000 meters of core drilling via 10-15 holes
* Depth Range: 600 to 900 meters per hole
* Property Size: 3,500 acres following recent expansion
* Phase I Assay Timeline: Results anticipated Q1-Q2 2026
* Next Phases: Phase II drilling and maiden resource estimate targeted for H2 2026

Funding and Forward Calendar

Exploration activities are fully funded following the completion of a C$10 million non-brokered private placement in 2025. Throughout the past year, Apex significantly expanded its land position to its current 3,500 acres, which now encapsulates the key historical REE-bearing sections.

The calendar for 2026 outlines several critical milestones. The company expects to receive and report assay results, finalize a NI 43-101 technical report, and refine its 3D geological model with the new data. The latter half of the year is scheduled for follow-up Phase II drilling and preliminary work on an initial mineral resource estimate.

Apex Critical Metals shares are publicly traded on the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE), the OTCQX market in the United States, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The company reported a market capitalization of approximately US$169.6 million as of late January 2026.
