Xiaomi’s Virtual Victory: A Strategic Drive into Gaming and Global Markets

Xiaomi’s automotive division has achieved a significant milestone, securing a presence in the iconic racing simulator Gran Turismo 7. This move marks the first time a Chinese automaker has been featured in the legendary game series, providing a substantial boost to the global visibility of its still-young electric vehicle (EV) business.

A Digital Debut for the SU7 Ultra

On January 29, 2026, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was officially added to the Gran Turismo 7 roster. To ensure an authentic digital replica, developers at Polyphony Digital collaborated closely with Xiaomi’s own engineering teams. For a newcomer to the auto industry, sharing virtual garage space with established performance brands represents a notable achievement and a clever marketing maneuver.

The vehicle featured is the tri-motor SU7 Ultra, built on an 800-volt platform. Xiaomi had previously turned heads by posting an impressive lap time with the production version of this model on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Building Brand Presence Ahead of Official Launches

This gaming integration aligns with Xiaomi’s broader “Human × Car × Home” strategy, which aims to create a cohesive ecosystem of connected devices. While an official European launch for its EVs is not scheduled until 2027, the cars are already reaching the continent through direct import channels.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Xiaomi?

Data from China EV Marketplace indicates that in 2025, Xiaomi was the top-selling electric vehicle brand among direct imports in several major EU markets. These figures suggest strong underlying demand exists well before the company’s formal market entry.

Core Business Strength and Upcoming Catalysts

In its core smartphone business, Xiaomi maintained a global market share of 13.1% in 2025, securing the world’s third position. The company is expected to unveil its new Xiaomi 17 model at the Mobile World Congress in early March 2026.

Investors will be watching closely for the next quarterly results, due on March 23, 2026, which should provide clearer insights into how the diversification into the competitive automotive sector is impacting Xiaomi’s overall financial performance.
